Painting Line Markings On Your Warehouse Floors

by Mildred Fisher

The facilities that will serve as your company's warehouse can be among the most important structures that your business may own. In addition to creating a space that is capable of safely housing your products, it is also necessary to ensure the warehouse is able to operate as smoothly and efficiently as possible.

Effective Floor Line Markings Can Reduce The Risk Of Accidents Occurring

A warehouse is likely to be a high-traffic area, and this means that there may be an elevated risk of an accident occurring on the premises. This is particularly true when there will be forklifts or other vehicles in operation in your warehouse. Line markings can significantly reduce the risk of these accidents occurring by allowing you to create a safe and efficient flow of traffic through the facility. Furthermore, cleanly marking the paths that individuals should take or that equipment should follow will help individuals to avoid accidents by increasing the predictability of those around them.

Epoxy Line Marking Options Can Be Extremely Durable

Due to the extreme amount of traffic that a warehouse can experience, line markings that use basic paint are likely to be a poor solution for this need. These markings will be likely to start to peel and fade in response to the amount of wear that they experience on a daily basis. This could result in you needing to have this work done every couple of years to keep the lines easy to see. In contrast, warehouse floor epoxy line markings are extremely durable, and this can make them ideal for warehouses that experience intense activity. In most cases, these markings will be able to last up to a decade before they start to experience enough wear to justify replacing them. Furthermore, the epoxy paint can be resistant to damage or deterioration as a result of exposure to extreme temperatures.

The Floors Will Need To Be Prepared Before The Epoxy Line Marking Work Can Start

In order for the epoxy line markings to be effectively applied to the floor, there will be some preparation work that will need to be completed. At a minimum, the floors should be thoroughly cleaned so there will be no grease or other substances to interfere with the application of the epoxy. Depending on the type of flooring that is in your warehouse, it may also be beneficial to use acid etching to roughen the area where the epoxy paint will be applied. This can substantially increase the ability of the epoxy to bind to the floor.
